After visiting the Scottsdale and the Grand Canyon, the last stop of our Arizona trip was to Sedona. I was super excited to go to Sedona and see all the beautiful red rocks. We have some red rocks in Colorado but not as dramatic or as grand as the ones we saw in Sedona.
We stayed at the Amara Resort and Spa and mostly enjoyed their restaurant, the complementary wine, and the hot tub/infinity pool. It was a really relaxing stay and was just what we were looking for to end our trip. We signed up for a couples massage, however I wasn’t feeling too well that day so we had to cancel. I was super bummed though, because I had heard amazing things about their spa. The spa staff were really kind and offered us a full refund and still invited us to use the spa amenities and enjoy the relaxation room. I have to say, the best part about the Amara Resort and Spa was the views. The hotel is tucked right underneath some beautiful red rocks and up alongside a river. It was such a delightful getaway location!
One morning we had breakfast at the Indian Gardens Cafe & Market and we couldn’t recommend it more. The coffee and food were delicious and the views weren’t bad either. The cafe had beautiful outdoor seating and it was located right in between the Oak Creek Canyon walls.
Following breakfast we decided to go on a hike. We hiked in the Coconino National Forest and did one big loop from Soldier Pass to Brins Mesa and back around through the Cibola Pass. It was gorgeous, so peaceful and the weather was great! Overall the hike was pretty easy to moderate, there were some areas where it got a little steep but it was very manageable. We wanted something on the easier side as Dave just finished chemo a few weeks prior and we weren’t ready to scale any big mountains, just yet! We really wanted to hike to Devil’s Bridge but unfortunately I was feeling sick the next day so we didn’t get to. Oh well, guess it’s just an excuse for us to visit Sedona again in the future!
Following our hike we went into the old town for ice cream and to explore the town a bit. We also went in and out of shops in the Tlaqueaque Art and Shopping Village. Later we had dinner at The Hudson where I highly recommend the bruschetta flights.
