Dave does his fair share of cooking around here and I don’t hate it one bit. He loves experimenting in the kitchen and I obviously love eating it. He’s been making these beer battered fish and chips and I really let him take the reins on this one because you know, Englishmen know their English food. I have to say they are delicious. They are light and crispy, golden, and taste extra good with a sprinkle of lemon juice on top and then dipped in tartar sauce.
- Heat vegetable oil in a cast iron skillet.
- Combine 1 cup of flour, 1 can of beer, 1 egg, 2 tablespoons of paprika, 2 tablespoon garlic powder, and salt and pepper to make the batter.
- Set aside some flour that’s seasoned with salt and pepper.
- Rinse and pat dry your cod fillets. Once dry, roll them into flour, then dip into the batter. Next, slowly place them into the cast iron skillet with hot oil.
- Fry the fish and flip it over when golden brown. Once both sides are nicely golden, set them on a plate with paper towels to drain some of the oil.
- Eat with french fries and enjoy!
