Dave and I rented a little cabin on a lake over labor day weekend. It was the perfect spot to relax and do nothing. It was a half hour from any town, restaurant, or grocery store, so it truly felt like once we were there it meant that we had to slow down and just, be.
Before heading to our little cabin we stopped in Frisco to let Samson swim in Lake Dillon. He goes nuts for the water, and yes, mostly this planned retreat to the lake was for him. We also stopped for groceries and got sausages to grill for dinner and some items for breakfast the next morning. Dave had to stop at one of his favorite breweries for some beers, too.
We then headed towards the cabin and once we got there, fell in love with it’s charm and views. (It also didn’t hurt that the Airbnb owner left us a bottle of red and some candy bars!) I mean, look at this view right outside the living room window!
We all immediately made ourselves comfortable and got into vacation mode. Samson scoped out the backyard, Dave claimed his spot on the deck and I popped open the bag of tortilla chips to have with some salsa.
We then headed down towards the lake to check out the area. It was getting late so all the boats were heading home for the day. We were the only ones walking along the shore and we had the lake to ourselves. And Samson got to go for a sunset dip!
^^ This picture above cracks me up because this dog of ours seriously loves the camera. He sees the iPhone pointed towards him for a picture and he’s ready with a pose. Always.
^^Also the sunset and these colors. Colorado just gets me.
We then spent the rest of the evening on the deck, cooking up some dinner and playing board games until it was time to call it a day.
For the rest of the weekend we slept in, made cinnamon rolls (the pre-made pop-in-the-oven kind), spent hours reading on the porch, and walked around the shore. Nothing crazy, but it was just what we needed.
One afternoon we rented a fishing boat to ride around the lake. It was so much fun cruising and seeing the views from all different angles. It was also Samson’s first time on a fast moving boat so he was very excited and a few times we had to hold him back from jumping in.
I know, so many pictures of the dog. But Samson in a life jacket is pretty darn cute. I clearly couldn’t help myself. :)
