I may not be an expert in relationships, but I think I have a pretty good one going on. Dave and I are always laughing and coming up with new things to do together. We have a great time and we so genuinely enjoy each others company. That’s what dating should be about, right? It’s fun! I thought it would be cool to share some of our date ideas with you. As you will see, they aren’t anything crazy, but they certainly are special.
What are some of your favorite date ideas?
1.) Go back to a place that’s special for the both of you.
Dave and I love Grand Central Terminal because it’s where we first met on his unexpected visit to New York City to see me.
2.) Get an ice cream cone.
Because really, who doesn’t love ice cream? I live dangerously close to a dairy farm, so some evenings we’ll take the 15 minute walk down there and chat and hold hands. We’ll walk back with an ice cream in each of our hands. It’s perfect.
3.) Attend your friend’s milestone events.
Whether it’s birthdays, weddings or family events, they’re fun! This summer we attended two weddings. It’s so nice getting dressed up, having a great time and celebrating the ones you love!
4.) Share a meal you love.
We’re hooked on fish tacos and we keep going back for more.
5.) Surprise each other with a little something.
After a long day at work, I came home to fresh flowers and a few little gifts, thai take out, and a rom-com. My kind of date ;)
6.) Go to the local bar and watch a sports game.
We do this too often, but as long as I can get french fries and a ginger ale, I’m a happy girl.
7.) Drive somewhere new and watch the sunset.
We love adventures and are always up for hopping into the car and exploring somewhere new.
8.) Have a night in and paint.
Buy some canvas and paints, a bottle of wine and play some music.
9.) Make home cooked meals together.
Every Wednesday, we have family dinner with our friends, and occasionally we’ll bring out the board games for a little competition.
10.) Go to local sporting events and concerts.
Real Madrid vs. Manchester United were just in town and surely, we were there!
11.) Go thrift shopping.
We found these two candle holders for $1 a piece. Dave painted the canvas and the photographs are mine. Voila!
12.) Visit the Humane Society.
We tease ourselves too often by checking out the puppies. We’ll end up naming all of them by the time we leave.
13.) Go to the local coffee shop.
Ours usually includes buying something sweet too.

August 11, 2014 at 11:55 am (10 years ago)These are all great ideas Melissa :) I love to stay in and watch a movie while drinking something of our pleasing. :) I love cudding on our sofa, it took us months to find it so it’s still satisfying. Also, just getting together with friends and going on a double date is fun. Have a great one Melissa! -Iva

August 12, 2014 at 5:02 pm (10 years ago)This is such a sweet post – I love the idea of being creative together and painting. I am a bit type A (even creatively) so I usually paint solo but maybe I’ll have to have a glass of wine, relax, and let my man get involved too! :) Xo, D

August 14, 2014 at 10:35 am (10 years ago)Yes, you guys should definitely try painting together one night. It’s so much fun, Dave gave me a lot of suggestions on my painting and we were having a paint off to see whose was better… mine of course! :P
