9 Things That Changed After Getting Married

DSCF0279-2DSCF0281 DSCF0283-2I thought I’d share a few fun things that have changed around the apartment since Dave has officially moved in. Really, it’s a rental apartment but we call it our little home.

Here’s what I’ve noticed about having my husband around the house:

1.) Artificial turf is everywhere.

And seriously, when I say everywhere, I mean it. It’s all over our stairs, I find it in the dryer, floating around in our bed, on the floor of our bathroom, and in hidden spots around the kitchen. I don’t get it! If you don’t know this about Dave, he is a soccer coach. So yes, I expect his shoes to have a few rubber tire turf balls here and there but really, it sneaks it’s way into everything.

2.) My cheeks hurt before falling asleep.

We sure love our pillow talk, and because of that my bedtime usually gets delayed by about an hour. He always cracks me up before bed and my cheeks always end up hurting from laughing so hard.

3.) Soccer balls are casually floating around our bedroom.

One was last spotted underneath my bedside table.

4.) Closet space is limited.

This man has t-shirts for every occasion!

5.) Cooking for two is so much more fun than cooking for one.

Sitting down for dinner every night is what I most look forward to in the evenings.

6.) Laundry has quadrupled.

I used to do one load of laundry a week or maybe one every two weeks. Now it’s a lot more. Because Dave has multiple soccer teams and practices, he changes like 3 or 4 times a day, which equals a butt load of laundry.

7.) The décor on my shelves has changed.

My bookshelf used to be color coordinated with bright, light and airy, cheerful book covers.  (I know, they say don’t judge a book by it’s cover, but I tend to buy books with pretty covers!) Now the books on our shelf are black and red and read: DAVID BECKHAM, ALEX FERGUSON, PELÉ, GERRARD.

8.) His art work gets more compliments than mine.

We haven’t purchased any real big pieces of art work yet, so instead we painted our own. When we have guests come over for the first time, they always comment on his paintings before even noticing mine. I’m not jealous! Ok, maybe just a little bit jealous.

9.) Toothpaste no longer goes to waste.

When it comes to getting toothpaste out of the tube, I have to admit, I get lazy and am just not very good at squeezing out every ounce of paste. I just twist whatever’s left at the top and a lot of what’s at the bottom gets thrown out. Dave on the other hand, is a pro toothpaste squeezer, if there’s ever such a thing. He somehow gets every single bit of toothpaste out. It’s honestly impressive how flat he can get the tube.

All in all, I’m praising God. Married life is pretty good. I can’t wait to see what else is in store!

Hehe I totally giggled while reading this! My laundry also got sooo much bigger after I got married… And everything got a little bit messier. It’s great though, I wouldn’t trade it for the world :P
