Sorry for the gushy photo, but when we’re talking about Valentine’s Day, I thought it was somewhat appropriate. This year for Valentine’s Day we decided we’re staying in. We plan on making a three course meal, something a little more complex and sophisticated than usual. Do you have any suggestions? We’ll definitely pop a bottle of champagne and eat too much chocolate and ice cream. It should be fun! Do you have any plans yet? If not, and you don’t know what to do, here are some ways to make sure that your Valentine’s Day is still a special one.
.) Buy 4 or 5 bottles of wine and create your own wine tasting party. Add in a selection of cheeses and crackers and of course, chocolates.
.) Sleep in extra long and spend an hour or two lounging in bed. If you’re up for it, treat yourself to a little breakfast in bed. Blueberry or chocolate chip pancakes are a great way to start the morning.
.) Go on a long walk or hike. Bundle up nice and warm. You’ll feel refreshed after!
.) Make a new playlist and buy some scented candles. This one smells delicious.
.) Visit the arcade and play as many rounds of skee-ball as you can.
.) Check out these cards and free prints to give to the ones you love.
.) Take a cooking class. I know Sur La Table hosts some great ones.
.) Avoid chain restaurants and stick to small local ones. Does anyone else agree that those are often the best?
.) Stay in, dress up, set the table and cook something exotic.
.) Vow not to buy each other gifts and save the money for a trip for two. In fact, research shows that buying experiences makes you happier than buying stuff.
.) Make s’mores or chocolate covered strawberries. And, if you’re really looking for the easy way out, just buy a jar of Nutella and dive in with different fruits, nuts and pretzels.
.) Check out a new bar or restaurant and order the most ridiculous drinks (or desserts) on the menu.
.) Start a new arts and crafts project. Try and make a scrapbook as cute as this one.
.) Make these sweet sugar cookies and hand them out to your friends.
.) Start a new Valentine’s Day tradition.
Let me know if you have any other fun ways to make your Valentine’s Day a special one.
