Green Smoothie

greensmoothieI’ve found that a refreshing and healthy way to start the morning is with a green smoothie. Honestly, I’ve tried a lot of green smoothie mixtures and recipes and this one is my own easy solution to the tasty power drink. The ingredients used are ones that you are sure to find in your kitchen, so you won’t have to worry about running to the store last minute. And, the best part of making smoothies is to have fun with it and to alter how much of each ingredient you prefer. Enjoy!

Mix in a blender:

  • 3 tablepoons of plain greek yogurt
  • 1 apple
  • 1 frozen banana
  • Two big splashes of orange juice
  • 3 handfuls of spinach
  • A couple of cubes of ice
  • 1 teaspoon of flaxseed

Mmm! Sounds good! I’ll have to try that. I love green smoothies too, but I usually don’t use a recipe. I just throw fruits, veggies and juice in a blender until it tastes good. That doesn’t always work out, but most of the time it does.

My kind of a drink! Looks amazing!
I’m gonna try it tomorrow morning.
You can try also another great recipe for smoothie:
    1 banana
    2 peaches, washed and unpeeled
1/2-1 cup of ice: large “oblong” cubes
1/2 cup of ANY milk (I use soy)
1 cup of instant uncooked/unsweetened oats
1 big pinch of ground ginger
    1/2 teaspoon-ish of cinnamon
It makes a really awesome, filling, just sweet enough smoothie with a great texture from the oats and peach skin, and a slight spice from the ginger and cinnamon! It made two servings.

Green smoothies are the best! It’s so fun to try different combinations. I’ve been putting coconut milk and pineapple in mine lately (dreaming of tropical weather!)
