Today we celebrate two months of marriage! I can’t believe two months have already flown on by. To honor our two full months, I thought I’d share some pictures we took with Léa Jones at the beginning of the year. And let me just say, it was New Year’s Day. So if we look like we had a few drinks the night before, it’s because we did. Champagne in fact. And, if it looks like we’re freezing cold, it’s because we were. Sunny with a high of 30 which felt more like 12, really.
We met up with Léa in Brooklyn Heights, in the same neighborhood where my mom and dad once dated. My mom also came along and showed us her old apartment building and stomping grounds. Sometimes I think it’s funny imagining my parents when they were my age, but seriously were they lucky because Brooklyn Heights seems to be a dreamy place to live. It was beautiful. Everyone still had their Christmas wreaths and garlands up and it made me wonder why we ever have to take them down once the holidays are over. We walked around the brownstones, chatted and took a few pictures on peoples pretty stoops. I guess you could say we all had a little case of stoop envy.
We continued to walk along the promenade and the sun was starting to set and it was one of those beautiful New York moments. We were all in awe of the creamsicle colored sunset, the silhouette of the Brooklyn Bridge, the Status of Liberty in the distance and the gorgeous skyline. However, the only thing Dave saw was the soccer field on the East River, of course. After he saw such a thing existed in Brooklyn, he looked at me and said, “Sold. Let’s move here.” It amazes me how a field of grass makes my man’s eyes light up like no other. We even took a picture of us with the soccer field in the background because I knew it would make him happy. That night Dave and I were seeing a Broadway show so we decided to cross the bridge to get back to Manhattan. We were hoping to get some photos on the bridge during sunset but by the time we made it onto the bridge, the sun was pretty much down. It did however, make for some really cool night shots.
