I turned 30 this week! I’ve honestly been looking forward to turning 30. I feel like this decade has a lot in store and I’m excited for it!
I know Covid birthday’s have a bad rep but Dave completely spoiled me and made sure I felt really special throughout the day. My birthday falls right after Valentine’s Day, so I always look forward to the two days because it’s one special day after the next.
We don’t typically do anything over the top for Valentine’s Day. Dave came home with flowers and balloons, which was really sweet. For Valentine’s Day we usually get each other a fun card and our favorite chocolates, make a nice dinner and share a bottle of wine. So we stayed true to our tradition this year and did just that.
The morning of my birthday we worked out in our basement together and then I had a beautiful breakfast on the table waiting for me after my shower. We opened some gifts and then I hopped on a few work calls.
^^ Dave’s really the best gift giver and there’s always a “theme” that ties the presents together, cute wrapping paper and thoughtful little details here and there. It annoys me / I also selfishly love that I reap the benefits of it. This year he out did himself and topped it off with two tickets to Hawaii and I.can’t.even.wait (!!!) So hopefully if Covid safe, we’ll be able to go and live our best beach lives.
After work we celebrated with mint chocolate chip ice cream cake, home made bison burgers and fries, and margaritas. Dave also surprised me by getting dressed up and hosting “Mel’s 30th Birthday Quiz Night” on Zoom with some of our friends and family. It was so nice seeing the faces I love gathered together, even if it was virtual – it was so fun!
Felt so loved and am beyond grateful for health, happiness, love and life. Bring it, 30s!
