Venice, Italy

I’m thrilled to post about our honeymoon in Italy! We had THE best time. Our honeymoon was a mixture of relaxing, exploring, and of course, a lot of good eating and a lot of good drinking. That Italian vino, yes! But even better, that Italian gelato!! I have SO many photos and they’ve taken me a while to sort through, but I’ve tried my best to narrow them down… Ha! Yes, this is narrowing them down! There are still lots below so sit tight!

We started our honeymoon in Venice and seriously, Venice is one amazing, beautiful place. We chose to go to Venice because it’s somewhere I’ve always wanted to go. Growing up we did a lot of travel but one of the places my parents would not take me to was Venice. My mom always said that I had to save Venice for my future husband, because it is that romantic! We had 6 days there which was absolutely perfect. It gave us enough time to see all the major sites, yet we were still able to just sit and relax at cafes and spend some time laying out on the beach. (Well, I did the laying out while Dave, always being a coach, tried to recruit some Italian soccer players!)

On our entire honeymoon we had only one day of rain. That day, Dave and I huddled under a restaurant awning, got ourselves a very large cannoli and just people watched. We probably sat there for a good three and a half hours. Tourists are actually quite funny in the rain and make for very good entertainment.

They were selling selfie sticks everywhere in Venice. In fact, most tourists had them. It probably would’ve been helpful, but I’m an old fashioned girl. And besides, Dave and I like to see who’s got a better arm span and who can take a better picture from their angle. A little competition never hurts!

For the 5 nights that we had in Venice, we went to the same gelato shop (Gelateria Paolin) every evening. Creatures of habit, I suppose. It was our favorite spot and we both agreed that they gave the biggest scoops in town for the cheapest price. Hey, we’re always up for a good deal ;)

This is someones home, their courtyard I guess. I thought it was too pretty not to take advantage of!

For one of the days in Venice we toured the city streets and got ourselves completely lost. It’s the only way to see Venice really! Also, I’m thinking of putting together a Venice Travel Tip post, so more recommendations to come.

This picture reminds me of The Venetian in Las Vegas, doesn’t it look fake? Well nope, this is the real thing people!

It was a rare occasion for us to get a photo together. But when we did, of course the pressure was on to look good and not screw it up! Lol most of them didn’t turn out so good but this one I kind of like. P.S. a tip for getting photos while you’re on a couples trip – find another couple and offer to take their photo and then ask if they’ll reciprocate. It works pretty well. And even better, look for a couple that has a nice camera ;)

A big pistachio cookie and I’m one happy girl!

Two of my favorite gelato flavors: yogurt and peach. They’re soooo refreshing in the late morning when the sun was just getting up there. And yep, gelato at 11:00 a.m. Perks of being an adult!
